A Rude Introduction

Week 2 of 'home arrest' is now over and it actually went fairly quickly. I guess one can get used to sitting around doing nothing. Ok, that isn't quite true. Here is a quick recap of my week.

Monday: visit from friends Barb and Ron, who appeared and cooked us a very yummy dinner

Tuesday: weekly OB appt on Tuesday; measuring 43 weeks now, bp still good, no signs of impending labor. Ob still thinking I have another 3-5 weeks to go

Wednesday: went out to lunch and a matinee viewing of 'Sex and the City: The Movie'
Thursday: trip to the local used book store and the Orlando Prime Outlets. Helped Karl shop because-let's be honest- I am certainly not in the market for clothes, shoes, or anything besides baby stuff these days.

Friday: non-stress test at the hospital. Went smoothly, both twins passed quickly this time. Also, game night at our house with Laura, Bryan, Jeff, and Liz. Fun stuff!

In between all of this excitement, I managed to catch up on some sleep (since I'm up half the night these days). It has become a routine- and not one I am fond of- either I can't seem to fall asleep until 2, 3, 4 am....or I manage to doze off at a decent hour, then awaken at one of these wee early am hours. The pets benefit from an early morning pee and I spend the time reading until I can eventually get back to sleep. Sometimes this insomnia is caused by back or headaches but just as often, it occurs for no reason. Or so I thought. During one recent bout, I read in "Twinspiration" that there is actually a biological reason for this insomnia. Apparently, nature is lovingly introducing me to the frequent wake-ups I'll experience as a mother who needs to feed her children every few hours. Well then, where is Karl's introduction? Though he may currently be in dreamland while I toss and turn, read parenting books, or drink a glass of milk, he will certainly not maintain this luxury once the two little screamers enter the picture. It would only be fair if he is given the opportunity to get used to this as well. Oh, Karl-sweetie....

Hi Kelly

Joanna told me that you were pregnant and sent me a link to your blog. Don't be mad at her, I was asking about you one day. You look beautiful! I am so happy for you and Carl and your new twins!
I know that God has blessed you all already, and this new addition is just going to be fabulous!
