Touchy Feely

A week ago Kelly claimed she felt activity just north of the equator. This began as an internally detectable flutter, she says, and has been intensifying daily to pronounced movements identifiable from the outside. I still can't feel a thing. Last night, just as I was entering deep sleep, she said "Wanna feel?," yanked my right hand and placed it at 10 degrees north latitude. After a minute there was a twitch of sorts. She swears it was B twirling about. I swore I needed some sleep and remain unconvinced that it was anything but a loose mattress spring under her stomach.

Apparently, many pregnant women have the peculiar experience of others patting their rounded abdomens, either upon hearing of the news or throughout the pregnancy, as if trying to determine the ripeness of a cantaloupe. Is this considered acceptable behavior for the near-stranger? Presumably this same aggressor wouldn't be as inclined to ass-pat the woman, nor would she offer it up.
